Melrose St circle safety

There's been some talk that the circle on Melrose and Vewnus Sts intersection needs to be made safer by raising it to prevent car access over it. Green alternative: I suggest we rather plant an indigenous, water-wise tree in the centre, with paved barrier surround. I am a landscaper and could get this done at cost if someone is prepared to negotiate with council for this and if residents would be happy to contribute a nominal amount to cover costs. Opinions welcome!
